The other September Bucket Fund Receipt and GOOD NEWS for the Castiac Horses – We CAN help! October Bucket Fund ~ Let’s help them ESCAPE the GRIM COUNTY REAPER!!!!

First, here is the receipt for the other September Bucket Fund for the 30 estray wild horses from the Virginia Range who were quietly gathered and went straight to a meat auction.

Luckily, there were locals who noticed that the horses were missing and banded together to buy them back, house them and …. hopefully find a place for this family band to live out their years.

So far, they still need a forever home for these 30 wild horses.  Know any patch of land that needs grazing?…

THANK YOU, Horse and Man Group for being so generous to help save these glorious lives!

Receipt for your generosity at the end of last month – to help save the wild, estray horses from the Virginia Range!

Safe! Thank you!

GOOD NEWS FOR THE CASTIAC HORSES!   We can help!

A few days ago I wrote about horses in Castiac CA whose time was running out (you can read that post here).  The horses have been at a County run facility for too long and the County is imposing a mandatory edict to destroy them if there are no takers immediately.

I wrote about these horses to see if there were any local readers who could take any of them.

Unfortunately, only one reader responded that she could take one – but it didn’t work out…

You see, the four horses at the shelter are ‘special needs’ and not easy placements.  That’s why they are threatened.  No one has come to look at them – for a very long time – because they aren’t rideable.

I spoke to the Shelter vet personally.  She told me that for three of them, their time was up – they had been there for months with no adopters.  And, she said it didn’t look good for the newest Palomino QH because he has obvious arthritis…

THIS SWEET GIRL STILL NEEDS TO BE SAVED – SHE NEEDS A HOME OR ONE OF THE OTHERS NEEDS A PRIVATE PARTY TO TAKE THEM SO SHE CAN TAKE THEIR PLACE AT THE GOLDEN CARROT!!!… TWH mare – black – 15.2 hands – thin, but not in bad shape – slightly dropped fetlocks in hind – slightly crooked knee in 1 front leg – sweet – friendly – loves people
& attention – was abandoned as a stray and starved profusely – doing better with weight & health – good spirits & easy to handle on ground… They are desperate to place her.

INUNDATED WITH EMAILS ASKING ME TO DO SOMETHING – ANYTHING!

Well, I tried…!

I wrote about them but no homes came forward.

Sadly, the Bucket Fund is great for raising money, but it cannot house any of these horses!  I didn’t know what to do for them… Many of  you emailed and begged me to figure something out.

Arrgh.  I didn’t have any ideas.

But then Casey from THE GOLDEN CARROT (a SoCal Rescue that specializes in older and special needs horses) emailed me.  She said that sadly, she had lost a few of her very old horses recently.  Therefore she had room for 3 of the horses at Castiac.

She could take 3!!!!  Incredible.

However, she didn’t have the funds to support 3 new horses over the winter… especially with hay prices at $20/bale here in CA.

Aha!  That is where the Bucket Fund can help!!!  We could help with expenses!

So, I called the vet at the Shelter and told her to hold off any rash acts and that we were working at saving at least 3 of them.

The vet was THRILLED.  She asked me to call her tomorrow (today) and let her know the plan.

Lester has a home at the Golden Carrot – he just needs sponsors!!  He is a good boy and everyone loves him! He could be lightly ridden by a light rider.Lester – Arab Cross gelding – white/grey – 15 hands – thin, but not horribly starved any more – significantly dropped hind fetlocks however he walks, trots, and lopes
at liberty with no apparent pain or lameness – very gentle, quiet, bombproof babysitter type – 12 years old – current on vaccines – very easy to handle on ground –
was abandoned as a stray & starved profusely – thin, but doing much better with his weight now. Facing his time limit – even after being saved by the shelter… He has a home with the Golden Carrot, just needs a dowry!!

THE PLAN – We have found a home for 3 of them, we just need to feed them for a short time!

The plan is simple and can work in a few ways…

–You can choose to be a monthly sponsor for any of these horses!!

Here is a link to the Golden Carrot where you can become a sponsor (from $25/mo – $150/mo) for any of these horses.  Just tell her which one and  how much you’d like to donate monthly!

Or, you can email THE GOLDEN CARROT directly and pledge which horse you’d like to sponsor and for how much a month!  (emai: cocarrot@earthlink.net)

–We can use Bucket Fund donations to send these horses to the Golden Carrot with a dowry to help pay for the ridiculously expensive hay in California!  ;)

It costs $150/month to provide the basics – food, shelter and trims/dentistry – for these horses at the Golden Carrot.  I’d like to give her a nice jump on expenses.  I would like to give the Golden Carrot security to make it through the winter with 3 new horses – especially with grass hay prices at $20/bale here in CA!

3 horses x 6 months at $150  = $2700

–We still need to find a home for the 4th horse, the TWH mare.  Know of anyone who needs a pasture pet?  I am hoping that this post will bring forth a Rescue who has room or a private party who has a great space for her…

Safe – He has a forever home with THE GOLDEN CARROT, he just needs a dowry to get him through the winter months – or a sponsor!!!  The shelter vet told me that this horse is a Palomino QH. Very sweet but front legs are arthritic. He cannot be ridden.

This 24 year old QH has navicular – and a home at the Golden Carrot! He just needs a sponsor or a dowry to get him through the first winter!

ONE IDEA FOR THE TWH MARE LEFT BEHIND…

Lester, the Arab, is a very, very sweet horse.  The vet at the Shelter loves him!!  She says he would make an awesome pasture pal and could do light riding with a light rider.

He is bombproof and would be great as a lead line horse for grandkids… or something like that.

If anyone can take Lester, that would free up a stall at the Golden Carrot for the TWH mare!

Or, if you have a space for her, please let me know…

WE HAVE A HOME FOR 3 OF THEM – WE JUST NEED TO SUPPORT THEM FOR THE WINTER!  PLEASE HELP MEDICATE, HOUSE AND FEED THEM FOR A SHORT WHILE!

If you receive this via email, donate here!

Only one comment so far...

Dawn, did you hear that almost 100 dogs were dumped along a road in Flower Mound Texas (yes,it’s a real place) Maltese and King Charled Spanels.. Texas has passed a law that breeders must be inspected and have a license.. And from the shape these dogs were in,they wouldn’t pass.. Fed enough, matted and filthy..
