Do you remember the headline for our November Bucket Fund?

Here it is:  The owners took in a million dollars in donations in one year… yet 81 horses were removed, starved. Our November BUCKET FUND HORSES: The survivors of Peaceable Farms.

Well… you all helped bring health and love to some of these rescued horses.  Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and donations!

And we sold some jewelry to benefit Gentle Giants Draft Horse Rescue who took in several draft horses from Peaceable Farms.

Thank you all for making a difference in the lives of these neglected and abused horses!

AND… DO YOU KNOW THE SIGNS OF STRESS IN YOUR HORSE?

This is a very basic chart… but probably a perfect addition to a barn door – especially if you have kids or grandkids.

The signs of stress are the same in a horse as a man… but we tend to not notice either very well.  So maybe charts are good.

I thought this easy chart was a good item to have on your computer – or printed and hung on your refrigerator or tack room door.

FAREWELL TO MY FAVORITE PHOTOBOMBER.

We lost Shiva this weekend.

Hubby is taking it pretty hard.  Shiva was his first dog.  I doubt Hubby knew how much an animal could mean to a human heart…  but he does now.

Shiva loved people.  He loved to go anywhere we were going and he loved to steal bones.  And he was a phenomenal photobomber.

Here are the last few photos taken of him – as usual, in some, he was in the background without me knowing.

Godspeed our little man.  Godspeed.

The last photo of our boy… outside the tack room door, waiting for dinner.

Just a few weeks ago, the two hooligans got out and ran – far. Both were totally exhausted when I picked them up and drove them home. Shiva could hardly walk the next day.

When he was much younger… looking up at me.

And when he was the youngster… laying his head atop Dexter, my long lost heart dog. Godspeed to you, little man, little buddy.

Dawn – So sorry to read that another one of your fur babies has crossed over the bridge. I hope MT met Shiva. Hugs to Hubby and you…it’s been a rough couple of months for you both.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of Shiva. Hugs to both of you, it’s always so hard.

My condolences to your husband–I know just how he’s feeling as we lost our 16-year-old og at the end of October. Even though she had been failing for some time it was still shattering to lose her, and I miss her very much. She was my daily companion. It will get easier (as you know), and soon his memories will be comforting rather than painful–at least, that’s been my experience.

I hope your holiday is a happy one, despite missing two very important four-legged family members.
