THE MARES AND BABIES WERE SAVED… BUT THE BACHELOR BAND OF 8 WAS LEFT BEHIND- IN JAIL STILL… MARCH BUCKET FUND: THE RHODES ROAD BACHELORS!

Remember how I told you about the herd of 13 pregnant, wild mares with weanlings at their sides who The Horse and Man Group Bucket Fund was going to help this month – but Return to Freedom saved them before we had a chance?!  (You can read that story, here.)

BACHELOR BAND OF 8 – STILL IN JAIL…

Well, what I didn’t know was that the Dept of Agriculture also rounded up a band of 8, young, gorgeous, healthy Bachelors who kept close to the band of 13 mares.

Sadly, Bachelors (geldings, now…) have less appeal than pregnant mares with babies so they are generally saved last – if at all.

But just look at these photos!!   Here they are when they were free!   So young, so vital and so beautiful.  (A local took these photos just before the horses were rounded up.  Yes, they were on the front lawn of her home…!)

I hate to see these handsome geldings lose their souls because they were rounded up and put behind bars.

Their townspeople want them back.

These are some of the Bachelor Band of 8 before they were rounded up. Gorgeous, young, fat and happy! Now they are languishing behind bars - rounded up by the Dept of Ag. The locals want to save them!

Gorgeous, young and healthy... now their lives are confined to over crowded pipe corrals. Their townspeople want to get them back and care for them!

Just babies themselves! Look at those tails!

LONE STALLION

Shannon (from HVWHPF) , who regularly travels to Carson City to check on the horses housed there and to create plans on how to save them… told me about a Lone Stallion.

Somehow, he had been separated from his herd and then was gelded.

He’s alone, miserable and lonely.

She wants to save him, too.

So, March’s new Bucket Fund it dedicated to the Bachelor Band of 8 plus the Lone Stallion.

(We don’t have any pics of him, yet…)

This is not the Lone Stallion. We don't have a photo of him. This is another of the Bachelor 8.

CAN WE HELP SAVE THEM?

Hidden Valley Wild Horse Protection Fund is organizing the (hopeful) purchase, vetting, travel, housing/food and eventual gentling of the Bachelor Band of 8 and the one Lone ex-Stallion.  HVWHPF is happy to receive whatever donations we can give!

I said I’d like our goal to be the money to ‘spring’ them from jail.  $400 each.

9 x $400 = $3600.

Let’s fight for their freedom!  Any Drop in the Bucket will eventually make it all overflow!  Thank you!

If you receive this post via email, click here to donate!

THANK YOU!!!!!

THANK YOU!!!!!  So healthy and vital!  Let’s free them from their pipe corral prison.

Good heavens, that palomino looks exactly like my Winston, white spot on the chin and all.

Did you want to donate cookies? If so, I could auction them off for these horses. Just let me know.
    No worries!

Oh wow that palomino is breath taking! I would go get him in a heart beat if I lived in the US.
