STARVED, COVERED IN TICKS, KNEE-HIGH MUD, TANGLED IN BARBED WIRE AND GIVEN ONLY ROTTING VEGETABLES AND FRUIT TO EAT! Meet our February Bucket Fund horses: Tom and Willow!

All neglect makes me crazy, but this is just crazy.

Before it gets this bad, just call someone – anyone.

Meet Tom and Willow.  Starved.  Covered in blood sucking ticks.  Barbed wire everywhere.  Mud up to their knees.  Eating rotten vegetables and fruit: lemons and pineapples – whole.

This is the cryptorchid stallion, Tom. He is a TB, stuck in mud with barbed wire cuts, covered in ticks and eating only vegetables and fruit.

This is a TB cryptorchid stallion with a tattoo, Tom. He was living in knee deep mud with barbed wire cuts, covered in ticks and eating only vegetables and fruit.

This is the 20 year-old TB mare, Willow. She looks pretty good here, but actually, she is a 2 on the scale, covered in ticks, has a possible bladder infection, is covered in mud, her feet are scary long, she was living with a stallion and she has had only whole fruits and vegetables to eat. Thank Horsegods that she isn’t pregnant. The infection probably helped that…

THEIR STORY…

Tom and Willow are TBs who were found with several other horses, trapped in knee high mud, covered in ticks, with nasty infected barbed wire tangles and scars – and eating only rotting vegetables and whole fruit – including pineapples and lemons!   Look in the trough in the photo below!

Ahh.  What is wrong with people?!

Luckily, rescuers from Horses Healing Hearts  were able to negotiate the release of the worst horses, Tom and Willow (with the help of Change Your Lead).

LOOK at what they were eating! Whole fruits (pineapples and lemons...) and rotting vegetables. No hay. Barbed wire everywhere. They were all covered in ticks.

Deplorable conditions… The rescuers are working on getting the other horses to safety as well. Tom and Willow were the worst.

THINK OF HOW THESE HORSES FELT!

As we all have our lovely breakfasts and Starbucks – or just something healthy and substantial, think of how these horses suffered – not being given the opportunity to thrive – in any way. No shelter, no food, unhealthy habitat, sickness everywhere…

Please, please help me help them!

Tom needs to heal his infected wounds, recover from the tick infestation/starvation/neglect in order to have his testicle surgery… his feet and teeth are a mess.

Willow has a tipped pelvis which allows manure to fall back into her uterus and because it has been untreated she has constant bladder infections.  Willow needs to heal from her bladder infection, massive blood-sucking tick infestation, her barbed wire wounds and gain hundreds of pounds so she can undergo a Caslick surgery to prevent further bladder infections.

Please.  Let’s make their next years GOOD, SOLID and HEALTHY with PROPER FOOD and proper care!

Please, think of how they must have felt…  Thank you in advance.  I greatly appreciate your support!
