Last month was an amazing Bucket Fund Month! We were able to raise $3500 to repay the rescuers, Safe Harbor Equine & Livestock Sanctuary, of these Big Lick horses! I will post pics as they get better and better… it is amazing what a proper re-feeding program, proper meds, love and care can do for any being. Wonderful work!
After the donation was sent, this is the email I received:
“Received with much happy celebration from our team!”

DO YOU REMEMBER YANAHA?
Yanaha was our Bucket Fund horse from October of 2014. I’m sure you’ll remember when I say she was the mare who had her privates cut out because she was difficult to breed. Now you probably remember. It was horrific and disgusting.
In the end, Yanaha could not survive her wounds.
The police caught the nasty perps… however, you know how animal abuse cases go – usually the charges are negotiated or reduced to such a degree that it feels like a slap on the wrist compared to the suffering the perps inflicted.
Well, sadly, the trial for the first perp was today and he pleaded guilty to a lesser offense.
Here is a snippet from the JUSTICE FOR YANAHA FB page. The page was started by the Rescue that saved Yanaha from her abusers: Rockport Horse Rescue for Medical & Rehabilitation of Abused & Neglected Horses & Farm Animals.

Nunez goes to trial later this month. This whole thing makes me ill. I so wish these guys were hung out to dry – forever.

Keep Yanaha in your heart. She didn’t endure all of this for nothing. Many souls have been moved in her honor.
