JULY AND AUGUST BUCKET FUND RECEIPTS! And updates!

During the end of July, we came together to help the Skyros horses whose numbers are dwindling… only 90 purebred and about 150 more that are mixed blood.

We didn’t want these tiny herds to suffer because of the financial crisis in Greece, so we were able to raise $795 to split between the herd on Skyros and the herd on Corfu.

Transferring the money into safe accounts took a more unconventional twist.  I needed to transfer half of the money (for the Skyros herd) into my business account so I could then wire transfer it into a trust account in the UK.

The other $400 (for the Corfu herd) worked as usual, via Pay Pal… but I had to send it to a trustee account, again.

Anyway, it all worked out and we received very nice thank you notes!

Helping this almost extinct herd was a very wonderful thing.

THANK-YOUS FROM THE SKYRIAN HORSE ADVOCATES IN GREECE

From the Silva Project on Corfu:

Hi Dawn, I’m not sure if we have ever met at Silvaland or Kanoni. I am Sylvia’s niece. Thank you so much for the donation towards Sylvia’s skyrian ponies. It really is greatly appreciated and will make a huge difference. I would love to thank you on ur fundraising/charity page too if you think that would be appropriate. Thanks again Alexia

THE MANY HORSES AT THE FALLON AUCTION YARD… OUR EMERGENCY AUGUST BUCKET FUNDS! – VERY SUCCESSFUL, ALL WERE SAVED!

I’m sure you remember the first 10 and then the additional 36 horses at the Fallon Auction yard.  There were pregnant mares, mare/foal pairs, young horses, mares, one BLM older gelding and 2 donkeys.

Well, all were saved!  They’ve been vetted and fed.  Now they are being transported to their new homes.

Amazing work.  It took a village… and luckily, a village was on hand!  Thank you all!
