HAPPY NEW YEAR! LET’S CATAPULT THIS FRESH START WITH RECEIPTS FROM OUR MOST RECENT GOOD DEEDS!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

What better way to kick start a fresh year than by the momentum of our most recent good deeds!

DECEMBER BUCKET FUND RECEIPTS (Skydog, So Cal Fires, Sven)

First, we had planned on highlighting the wonderful rescue stories from SkyDog Sanctuary so they could reap from their good deeds.  But, after the first day of fund raising, the fires broke out in Southern California.

Clare from Skydog felt that the fire victims should benefit from your good graces, so we switched our goal.

Our first Bucket Fund was intended to repay all the good deeds of Skydog Sanctuary.

Our receipt for one day of fund raising.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FIRES

After Skydog Sanctuary asked us to redirect the Bucket Fund, I searched (and searched and searched) for horses in need in the Southern California fires.  The good news there was that despite the horrors, people from all over the USA descended upon the land and gave and gave and gave.  The amount of help and good will was astounding!

I contacted every vet hospital down there and all of the horses in their care had excellent supporters, GoFundMe pages and donors.  I could not find a horse to help that someone hadn’t beat me to it.  Amazing!

The worst damage was at San Luis Rey Downs.  Once the San Luis Rey Equine Hospital reopened (they had evacuated), I contacted them.  Most of the horses in their care were already adequately funded.  However, they had an owner who had lost everything except one filly.  She was badly burned on her hind, udder, legs and face.  I was told by the attending vet that this owner could use the financial and emotional boost of a donation.  So, we gave her $2500, which was a huge help!

The filly would survive, but she was badly burned on her hind end, back legs and face.

Her udder was the worst part of her injury, I was told…

Our donation to help this filly and her owner.

SVEN

Next we heard of a horrible ice accident involving a 5 month-old wild foal!  LRTC was called just before nightfall to help this little guy they named Sven. After three days of constant veterinary care, poor Sven was not able to overcome the muscle damage from the cold and the fight.  We lost him.  But we donated to cover his medical expenses and help the team purchase more equipment for future rescues, in honor of Sven.

Sven had around the clock veterinary care. Everyone thought he was on the mend… but he crashed on the third day. So sad.

The funds carried over from the fire donations and the donations for this little guy… I know some of the equipment has already been purchased.

GOOD NEWS!I did hear from LRTC that they have already purchased helmets to protect the eyes of downed horses through the funds we collected for Sven.

The new helmets (3 sizes) purchased through our donation.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!  TOMORROW WE WILL REVIEW ALL THE HAPPY ENDINGS FROM LAST YEAR SO WE CAN MOVE THAT MOMENTUM INTO THIS BRAND NEW, FABULOUSLY WIDE OPEN, FRESH NEW YEAR!
