This horse was a rescued, orphaned Virginia Range mustang 6 years ago. Lucky Star Ranch saved him and bottle fed him since he was 2 weeks old. This horse is their baby. (Lucky Star Ranch is a well-respected 501c3 non-profit mustang and burro sanctuary – a good friend to the mustang community in the Virginia Range.)
Tonight, Blaze is in dire, dire need. His owners found him bleeding horribly from his foot – less than an hour ago. They are not exactly sure what happened but it is a sharp, even, through-cut.
We know now that Blaze’s artery was severed – blood everywhere – his shocked owners kept it together, backed up the trailer to him, loaded him three-legged and raced to the hospital (Sierra Valley Large Animal Vet in Nevada) where he is RIGHT NOW, on the surgery table.
The vet sedated Blaze, stopped the bleeding and examined him. They think this just happened moments before Larry found him, or he would have bled out. No tendons/ligaments are cut so he can be saved if he makes it through surgery.
Blaze is on the table right now. The vets are very hopeful…
Please, can we help Blaze with this massive and horrid wound?! All donations are 100% tax deductible. THANK YOU. This means so much to me, his owners and all of their neighbors who pulled together to rally and get this horse immediately to the equine hospital. THIS IS HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.
