Oh my gosh this is an intense story!
The mare, Hope, very heavily pregnant, was rescued from the meat buyer while on a feedlot in Fallon, Nevada. (Yes, meat buyers buy these twofers. They foal out the Mama, fatten them both up and sell them for meat.)
Hope was saved by LBL EQUINE RESCUE at the last minute – she almost immediately delivered a filly, now named Serenity (“Reni” for short).
All was going well, they thought, except Hope’s left rear seemed constantly sore. After bloodwork, they found she had a chronic infection. Vet prescribed antibiotics didn’t do anything so the vet took Xrays. Here they found an infection in Hope’s coffin bone.
Mama Tess had this. It is most often fatal if surgery is not performed. Coffin bone surgery is extremely expensive and the after care is very intense. I know.
THEY’VE COME THIS FAR… ON TOP OF MAMA’S COFFIN BONE INFECTION… BABY RENI HAS A HORRIBLE HERNIA. BUT R-VETS IS WILLING TO DO BOTH SURGERIES FOR A 75% REDUCED FEE!!
While they were diagnosing Mama, baby developed a huge hernia. She definitely needs surgery.
What does the Rescue do? TWO COSTLY SURGERIES.
Luckily, Dr. Eric Davis (R-Vets – a fabulous veterinarian non-profit ) has agreed to do both surgeries at a ridiculously generous reduced fee of $900 for both surgeries. A 75% reduction!
ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT… SURGERY IS SCHEDULED FOR TOMORROW – and the truck broke down that was bringing them to hospital just now. OY. Can you believe it?! ANOTHER RESCUE TRUCK IS ON THE WAY… BUT WITH ALL THIS STRESS, LET’S HELP THEM PAY FOR THESE GIFTS OF REDUCED RATE SURGERIES!
Just now, their truck broke down on the way to the equine hospital. Luckily, a second rescue team has picked up Mama and Baby so they are now back on the road and will have their surgeries tomorrow and Friday.
Let’s help them! $900 would be a big boost in paying for the surgeries. I have no idea what the truck repairs will cost (they have set up a GO FUND ME) – but let’s help them worry less! Let’s get these surgeries done!
Your donation is 100% tax deductible! Please let’s help ease the pain. THANK YOU in advance!
